Iran and Oman create a temporary corridor in the Strait of Hormuz

Iran and Oman have practically completed work on an agreement to create a corridor for navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, but this does not mean the opening of the strait - it will happen as soon as the United States fulfills Tehran’s conditions, Hassan Gashgavi, a representative of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, told RIA Novosti.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry previously announced work with the Omani side on the creation of a temporary corridor for navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and joint demining of the route, and also agreed to continue discussions on the creation of a permanent corridor for navigation through the now closed strait.

“The issue of an agreement with Oman regarding the corridor in the Hormuz watering, that is, the ship traffic system, has almost been worked out to the end. We again emphasize that the agreement on the corridor in the Strait of Hormuz does not mean its opening. The Strait of Hormuz will be closed until the United States accepts and fulfills Iran’s conditions,” he said.

He said Iran's military would continue to control the Strait of Hormuz until the United States complies with the "conditions established by the 14-point Islamabad Memorandum" reached between Tehran and Washington in June.

On February 28, the United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran, to which the Iranian side responded with its own strikes. At the moment, the conflict remains unresolved.
