British banker and relative of the king Nicholas Brandrum found dead in London

British banker, millionaire and relative of the king Nicholas Brandrum, who was suspected of throwing a stranger under the wheels of a bus, was found dead in his home in London. The Daily Mail reports this.

Brandrum, 44, was found unconscious at his home in Chiswick on Tuesday evening, September 15. Police and ambulance arrived at the scene at around 7:12 p.m. but were unable to save the man. His death is described as unexpected, but no signs of violence were found at the scene. Scotland Yard said the case will be referred to the coroner.

Brandrum was arrested on June 15 on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm as part of an investigation into the Putney Bridge incident. On May 5, 2017, surveillance cameras captured a jogger pushing a woman under the wheels of an oncoming double-decker bus. The driver managed to turn the steering wheel at the last moment, and the victim escaped with minor injuries. The attacker did not even turn around and continued jogging, and 15 minutes later he ran back past the victim, who was in a state of shock, ignoring her screams. Following his arrest, Brandrum was also suspected of possessing Class A and B drugs - believed to be cocaine and cannabis. He was later released on bail pending the investigation.

Brandrum was a descendant of Queen Victoria: his grandmother was Princess Catherine of Greece and Denmark, and Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, was his father's godfather. Brandram served as a captain in the Scots Guards and saw action in Afghanistan, Iraq and Bosnia. He most recently worked as a director at private bank HSBC. The cost of his London house is estimated at approximately 1.4 million pounds sterling (about 170 million rubles).
