According to the results of Modetour's analysis of reservations departing from July 18 to August 8 among the overseas travel products booked as of the 14th on the 15th, nearby regions such as China and Japan accounted for 82.0%.

The proportion of reservations by region was highest in China at 27.4%, followed by Southeast Asia (24.3%), Japan (18.2%), and Mongolia (12.1%). The proportion of long-distance routes, including Europe (10.2%) and the Americas and South Pacific (6.4%), was less than 20%.

Modetour analyzed that preference for short-distance travel destinations with low travel burden, climate, schedule efficiency, and suitability for family travel has strengthened amid high exchange rates and fuel surcharges.

Looking at detailed destinations, in China, Baekdu Mountain accounted for the highest proportion at 46.3%, followed by Zhangjiajie (10.4%), Qingdao (8.4%), and Inner Mongolia (7.0%). In Japan, Sapporo was the most popular with 48.2%, followed by Osaka (15.2%), Fukuoka (11.2%), and Okinawa (8.3%).

In Southeast Asia, Vietnam accounted for half, or 50%, of reservations.

Compared to the same period last year, Mongolia's reservation rate increased by 73.6%, showing the largest growth.

An official from Modetour said, "This summer's overseas travel demand is being subdivided to take into account not only the burden of travel, climate, and suitability for family travel, but also schedule efficiency that can increase satisfaction within a limited vacation period."
