A new round of car purchase subsidies is coming. Recently, many places across the country have launched automobile consumption promotion activities, including special subsidies at the provincial level, as well as car purchase discounts at the municipal and district levels. Consumers who plan to buy or replace a car should not miss this wave of discounts. How strong is this round of subsidies? What should you pay attention to when applying?

Many places launch new car purchase subsidies

Provincial and municipal discounts are intensively implemented

Gansu: Arrange special funds of 6 million yuan, with a maximum bicycle subsidy of 3,000 yuan

Gansu Province has coordinated 6 million yuan in provincial-level special consumption promotion funds to carry out new car purchase subsidy activities across the province from September 23 to October 7.

The subsidy is open to individual consumers who purchase new non-operational passenger cars in Gansu. It covers fuel and new energy passenger cars with 9 seats or less. It can be enjoyed in conjunction with city and county new purchase subsidies. It does not apply for repeated applications with car scrapping renewal and replacement renewal subsidies. A single person can only apply once per year.

The subsidy is set up in two levels, based on the tax-included price of the unified invoice for motor vehicle sales:

Vehicles worth 100,000 yuan or less will receive a subsidy of 2,000 yuan per vehicle;

Vehicles worth more than 100,000 yuan will receive a subsidy of 3,000 yuan per vehicle.

Qinghai: Provincial-level new purchase subsidy up to 5,000 yuan

Recently, Qinghai Province issued the "Qinghai Province 2026 Provincial-level Subsidy Activities for Purchase of New Automobiles and Home Appliances Products Implementation Plan." New car purchase subsidies are available to individual consumers who purchase new passenger cars from participating sales companies in Qinghai Province, covering fuel vehicles and new energy vehicles, with a maximum subsidy of 5,000 yuan.

A one-time subsidy of 3,000 yuan for car purchase prices ranging from 50,000 yuan (inclusive) to 100,000 yuan (exclusive);

A one-time subsidy of 4,000 yuan for car purchase prices ranging from 100,000 yuan (inclusive) to 200,000 yuan (exclusive);

A one-time subsidy of 5,000 yuan is provided for car purchase prices above 200,000 yuan (inclusive).

When individual consumers apply for new car purchase subsidies, the "Unified Motor Vehicle Sales Invoice" and "Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate" submitted by them should be obtained starting from July 1, 2026. Each individual consumer can only enjoy one new car purchase subsidy in 2026, and the same new car cannot be combined with the national car scrapping and renewal subsidy and car replacement and renewal subsidy.

Greater subsidies, municipal and district-level discounts are worthy of attention

Nanjing City will launch the second round of new car purchase and consumption promotion activities from September 16 to December 31, 2026. For individual consumers who purchase new passenger cars at event merchants, subsidies will be provided based on the new car sales price (total price and tax) (rounded up to the nearest dollar). The specific standards are as follows:

For those who purchase new energy passenger cars with a price of more than 50,000 yuan (inclusive), a subsidy of 3% of the new car sales price will be provided, with a maximum subsidy amount of 7,000 yuan;

For those who purchase a fuel-powered passenger car worth more than 50,000 yuan (inclusive), a subsidy of 2% of the new car’s sales price will be provided, with a maximum subsidy amount of 6,000 yuan.

In addition to subsidies for new purchases, Yuhuatai District in Nanjing has also launched a separate activity to promote consumption of second-hand cars (subsidy targets second-hand cars, with a fund of 1 million yuan, first come, first served). This is a unique special activity at the district level.

During the activity period, you can enjoy a one-time subsidy for the purchase of eligible second-hand vehicles. The specific standards are as follows:

If the tax-included price of the vehicle stated in the unified invoice for second-hand car sales is less than 200,000 yuan (exclusive), a subsidy of 1,000 yuan will be provided.

If the tax-included price of the vehicle stated in the unified invoice for second-hand car sales is between 200,000 yuan (inclusive) and 400,000 yuan (exclusive), a subsidy of 3,000 yuan will be provided.

If the tax-included price of the vehicle stated in the unified invoice for second-hand car sales is between 400,000 yuan (inclusive) and 1 million yuan (exclusive), a subsidy of 5,000 yuan will be provided.

If the vehicle price including tax stated in the unified invoice for second-hand car sales is more than 1 million yuan (inclusive), a subsidy of 10,000 yuan will be provided.

Lanzhou City has specially launched a Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day car purchase subsidy. Starting from September 23, it will implement a "double stacking" policy of provincial subsidies and municipal subsidies:

The invoice amount (including tax) is 100,000-150,000 yuan (including 150,000 yuan), and each vehicle can enjoy a total of 3,200 yuan in provincial and municipal subsidies;

The invoice amount (including tax) is 150,000-200,000 yuan (including 200,000 yuan), and each vehicle can enjoy a total of 3,400 yuan in provincial and municipal subsidies;

If the invoice amount (tax included) exceeds 200,000 yuan, each vehicle can enjoy a provincial and municipal subsidy of 3,600 yuan in total.

The “Lihui Golden Autumn” new car consumption subsidy launched by Qingdao City:

New energy passenger cars: A subsidy of 4% of the new car sales price (total invoice price and tax) will be provided, with a maximum of 12,000 yuan;

Fuel passenger cars: A subsidy of 3% of the new car sales price (total invoice price and tax) will be provided, with a maximum of 10,000 yuan.

Many car companies launch brand-exclusive promotions

Many car companies have also followed up and launched limited-time exclusive car purchase incentive policies in September. So far, more than 30 brands have released September promotion policies, covering more than 100 models.

If consumers have a brand they want to buy, they can learn more about its preferential policies.

From the perspective of promotional methods, the current car market discounts are basically concentrated in four categories: cash discounts, replacement subsidies, financial policies and configuration rights packages.

Distinguish between government subsidies and merchant promotion rules

The applicable rules for local financial subsidies, national trade-in subsidies, and cash discounts, replacement discounts, and financial plans from manufacturers and stores may be different. For example, some subsidy policies in various places have stated that they will not be applied for repeatedly with car scrapping renewal and replacement renewal subsidies.

When the salesperson introduces the "comprehensive discount", he should list it item by item, clarifying which ones are direct price reductions, which ones need to be applied for review, which ones have attached loan conditions, etc.

Distinguish between activity time and reporting time

There may be separate deadlines for car purchase, invoicing, registration, and application submission.

The fact that the activity is still being implemented does not mean that the quota is necessarily sufficient. For example, Gansu Province has clearly marked that the special subsidy follows the principle of "total amount control, first-come-first-served, first-come-first-served, and first-come-first-served basis".

Paying a deposit does not necessarily mean that you have obtained the subsidy qualification. Paying a deposit only means that you have ordered a car from the dealer, but it does not mean that you will definitely get the government subsidy. For example, whether it belongs to the car model specified in the subsidy, the price range, the type of car purchase (such as new energy vehicles, fuel vehicles, trade-in, etc.); whether the application materials are submitted within the specified time and passed the review, etc. These conditions must be met to obtain the subsidy.

Therefore, before making payment, be sure to check the process and acceptance status through official announcements and designated platforms.

Calculate final expenses and don’t be carried away by the “maximum subsidy”

"Maximum replenishment" usually corresponds to specific conditions. It is recommended to calculate the vehicle price, taxes, insurance, options, loan interest and other expenses together to compare the actual expenditure after receiving subsidies. Don’t buy a model that exceeds your budget just to reach a higher subsidy range.

When buying a new car, you should pay attention to the discounts and pay attention to the rules. Only by confirming your needs and budget first, then checking your qualifications and comparing quotes can you make the subsidy truly affordable.
