The Myna Portal app was updated to the ``Myna App'' on August 25th. Let me explain what has changed.
First of all, what is a minor app? What are the benefits?
The Mynaportal app can be used for login, authentication, and signatures when using services such as Mynaportal. On the other hand, there are ``digital authentication apps'' that are used to authenticate and sign signatures using My Number cards for various public and private services.
For example, when you want to open an account at a securities company, you can apply for a service more quickly by using a digital authentication app to verify your identity using your My Number card and to provide an electronic signature. 1,439 services have applied to use this digital authentication service, and it is already available for use in 607 services (as of August 20th).
The integration of these Mynaportal apps and digital authentication apps will become Mynaapps. The advantage is that you can complete the identity verification of your My Number card with this one app.
Previously, even if you had the Mynaportal app installed, you had to install a digital authentication app to use a service that uses a digital authentication app. However, from now on, if you have the Myna app installed, you will be able to verify your identity using a variety of services and procedures.
In addition, until now, the digital authentication app could not use the ``iPhone My Number Card'' or the ``electronic certificate for Android smartphones (scheduled to be renamed to the ``Android My Number Card'' around fall 2026), but from now on, both will be supported. You can verify your identity using just your smartphone without having to take out your actual My Number card.
What should I do to use the main app?
If you already have the Myna Portal app installed on your smartphone, updating it will change it to the Myna app. I have the app set to update automatically if I am in a Wi-Fi environment, so the day after the service started on August 25th, the Myna Portal app was changed to the My Na app.
In the case of a digital authentication app, you will be prompted to install a minor app when you start the app. However, if you have both apps installed, there is no problem with just updating the Mynaportal app. You can uninstall the digital authentication app after it has been converted to a minor app.
When using Myna App for the first time, you will need to register using your My Number Card. In addition, to prevent unauthorized use by third parties, it is mandatory to lock smartphones using PIN, facial recognition, fingerprint authentication, etc.
If your smartphone is equipped with an iPhone My Number Card or an electronic certificate for Android smartphones, you can complete the registration by simply passing biometric authentication. Since I was using an electronic certificate for Android smartphones, I was able to easily complete the registration without having to take out my My Number card.
What will happen to minor apps in the future?
Even though I knew in advance that the Mynaportal app would be updated to a Minor app, I was surprised that the app icon had changed. However, you can tell that it is an app related to My Number because it depicts My Number's official character, ``Maina-chan.''
Ultimately, the app icon will be a simpler text-only app, but for a certain period of time as a transitional measure, consideration will be taken such as ``Myna-chan'' being drawn on the app icon and ``old Mynaportal app'' added to the name of the Myna app in each app store.
In March 2027, we will implement a function that allows you to receive push notifications from government agencies etc. delivered to Mynaportal. By 2027, you will be able to check notifications on the Myna app without logging into Mynaportal. In addition, by utilizing AI agents within Mynaportal, administrative procedures will be made easier.
