Moscow is preparing to host the third Russian-African summit

The ministry's official spokeswoman said in a press conference: "Many African capitals confirmed their participation in the summit and announced their intention to send representative delegations to Moscow, including leaders of government structures and, of course, businessmen."

She added that it is expected that, during the summit to be held next October, a "huge package of government documents and commercial contracts" will be signed.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman indicated that Moscow hopes that the summit will give new impetus to the development of the Russian-African partnership.

Last March, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree selecting Moscow to host the third Russian-African summit, in addition to other activities within the framework of Russian-African cooperation.

The text of the decree stated: “In order to prepare for holding the third Russian-African summit and other events, a decision was issued pursuant to this decree designating the city of Moscow as the location for holding the third Russian-African summit and other events in the Russia-Africa format in 2026.”

The first Russian-African summit was held in October 2019 in Sochi, and the second summit was held in July 2023 in St. Petersburg.
