The "Beigang Yimin Temple", a designated historic site in Yunlin County, honors the stone sculpture of the only dog general in Taiwan who was conferred the title of "Dog General" by the emperor. This morning (13th), the temple teamed up with Mailui Information Company to hold the country's first "Hundred Pets Walking for Righteousness" prayer parade. More than 100 groups of furry children and their owners followed the dog general and drove for 1.2 kilometers in the town. People exclaimed, "It's so cute! At around 8:35 today, led by the righteous dog General Saint, a blessing parade of furry children set off from the Yimin Temple in a mighty manner. Wu Mingzong, the initiator of the event and CEO of Mai Rui Information, said that during the Lin Shuangwen Rebellion during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, residents in the Bengang area called on 108 strong men to form a volunteer group in order to resist bandits and raised a spirit dog to guard them day and night. However, the thieves sent poisonous dogs to attack again at night, resulting in the death of all members of the volunteer group. To commemorate his righteous deeds, later generations built a temple to honor the volunteers and the dog.
Wu Mingzong pointed out that he cooperated with the fund-raising platform to establish a special religious prayer area, hoping to help the temple raise funds for repairs and renovations. Since the Beigang Yimin Temple happened to use the platform to raise funds to build a new environmentally friendly golden furnace, it held Taiwan's first 100 Pets Walking Prayer Parade. Today, hundreds of groups of pets gathered from the Yimin Temple and walked 1.2 kilometers with the General Dog General. Ms. Wang from Taipei said that she specially returned to her hometown of Yunlin and took her four adopted babies to participate in the prayer parade, hoping that the fur babies would be safe and well. Ms. Huang from Dihuang in Beigang said that she had worshiped the Yimin Temple since she was a child, so she specially brought her 2-year-old British shorthair cat "Yabi" to participate in the parade, hoping that he would stay healthy and accompany her throughout the journey.
In addition, Ms. Huang from Sihu also raised a butterfly dog "Nie A", which was the focus of the audience and kept praying to the temple with "folded hands". She said that she discovered that "Nie A" liked to go to temples to worship when he was a child, and she also hoped that participating would bring good luck to the furry child.
Cai Mingjun, the chairman of the temple, said that this is the first time to cooperate with a company to hold a prayer parade around the border. He also thanks all walks of life for their willingness to raise funds to build a new environmentally friendly golden furnace.
