[Financial Channel/Comprehensive Report] Data released by the U.S. Treasury Department on Thursday (18th) showed that the total amount of U.S. debt held by foreign investors rebounded, increasing by US$3.9 billion monthly. Japan is still the largest creditor. After reducing its holdings by US$12.7 billion in March, Taiwan returned to buying bonds in April, but only bought US$100 million, with a position of US$300.9 billion, firmly ranking as the 10th largest creditor.

After being sold off by foreign investors for US$138 billion in March, U.S. debt finally stopped falling in April, with a slight increase of US$3.9 billion mainly driven by Japan and the United Kingdom.

According to data from the U.S. Treasury Department, the top 10 creditors in April were Japan ($1.21 trillion), the United Kingdom ($937.5 billion), China ($651.1 billion), the Cayman Islands ($471.6 billion), and Belgium. China (USD 459.9 billion), Luxembourg (USD 431.1 billion), Canada (USD 397.1 billion), France (USD 393.3 billion), Ireland (USD 345.3 billion), and Taiwan (USD 300.9 billion).
