From September 1, 2027, a new standard for high school students will be introduced in Russia with the ability to choose a basic level in all subjects

From September 1, 2027, a new standard for high school students will come into force, which will allow students to opt out of in-depth study of subjects by choosing a basic level. This was announced by Russian Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov in an interview with TASS.

“An important change will be the opportunity for high school students to study all subjects only at a basic level, while now it is mandatory to study at least two subjects at an advanced level,” Kravtsov noted.

The minister emphasized that training in six profiles will remain, but schools will be able to flexibly form groups.
