In Russia, a technological fee on electronics will be introduced from December 1

The technology fee, which will be introduced in Russia from December 1 this year, may cause an increase in the price of smartphones and laptops. This was stated by economist Viktor Mangazeev. He was quoted by Izvestia.

He recalled that the basic technical fee rate for smartphones will be 373 rubles, and for laptops - 746 rubles. Due to various conditions, it can either decrease to 250 and 500 rubles, or rise to 496 and 992 rubles, respectively.

According to the economist, for premium electronics, which sell for 80-100 thousand rubles, the change will be barely noticeable. However, in the budget segment, an additional 250-500 rubles can result in an increase in price by several percent.

On average, Mangazeev believes, prices will rise by 3-6 percent. This will have the greatest impact on those who purchase cheap smartphones and laptops.
