The Ministry of National Defense announced that it will hold an event commemorating the 78th Armed Forces Day at the Gyeryongdae runway on the 1st of next month.

‘Realize independent national defense! This year's Armed Forces Day commemoration event, held under the theme of 'the irreplaceable Armed Forces', will be attended by approximately 4,000 ordinary citizens and military personnel.

In particular, the Ministry of National Defense introduced that this year, to promote communication and harmony with the people, an event will be held at the Gyeryongdae runway, where the '2026 Ground Force Festival/Gyeryong Military Culture Festival', the largest military cultural festival in Korea, is held.

The government plans to hold Armed Forces Day together with the Army's Ground Forces Festival, the Air Force's Air Show and ADEX (Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Industry Exhibition), the Navy's International Fleet Review, the Marine Corps' Seoul Recovery Ceremony and the Incheon Landing Operation Victory Ceremony in accordance with the 'Four-Year Plan for Armed Forces Day Events'.

Through this, the Ministry of National Defense explained, “We plan to present the national sovereignty government’s defense policy and security vision to the public in stages every year.”

At this commemorative event, a variety of events will be held, including the exhibition of various weapon systems of 'K-Defense Industry' using AI and cutting-edge technologies, under three themes: ▲ Realization of independent national defense ▲ Trust in the people ▲ AI-based irreplaceable national military.

During the former Yoon Seok-yeol administration, a street parade with troops and weapons was held during the Armed Forces Day event, but since the Lee Jae-myung administration took office, street marches have not been held for the second consecutive year since last year.

However, in commemoration of Armed Forces Day, the Ministry of National Defense and the Army, Navy, and Air Force will hold about 20 security and cultural events, including the Ground Forces Festival, Incheon Landing Operation Victory Ceremony, Sacheon Air Show, and Navy Patriotic Concert, from September to October.
