U.S. Vice President JD Vance warned on the 3rd (local time) that if you invest in the U.S., you will receive rewards, but if you do the opposite, you may suffer disadvantages.
Vice President Vance attended the 'Foundry School' launch event held at the 'Donald Trump Institute for Peace' in Washington, D.C. on this day, and said, "As the President showed, we are willing to use the 'carrot' by telling foreign and American companies that invest in the United States and build (factories) that 'they will receive compensation and find partners in the U.S. government.'"
“But if you move American jobs overseas or depend on unstable and, frankly, hostile countries for your supply chain, you will not be rewarded by government policy and you will not find friends in the president or anyone else,” Vance continued.
It is interpreted that the Trump administration is pressuring not only American companies but also foreign companies to invest in the United States in accordance with the 'America First' policy, implying that there may be disadvantages if they make choices that differ from what they consider to be national interests.
Vice President Vance said, "Industrial security is national security," and pointed out, "Over the past 20 to 30 years, we have learned that if the United States does not have sufficient self-sufficiency in industry and manufacturing, enemies can exploit it and the United States becomes much weaker."
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also delivered a congratulatory speech, saying, "America made the terrible mistake of thinking that the ability to make things was no longer important, and a few years ago we suddenly realized that we were dangerously dependent on foreign countries for all kinds of things we need. We are working across all areas to correct this mistake."
Secretary Rubio explained that securing basic materials is important, “which is why there is so much focus on access to key minerals as raw materials as well as processing capabilities.”
This emphasizes the need to raise the level of industries that lag behind in the United States, taking into account China, which is far ahead in terms of both the size of its core mineral holdings and its processing capabilities.
Secretary Rubio continued, “Another way is to have the ability to actually produce things,” adding, “We need to understand this ‘reindustrialization.’”
Foundry School is a national program that trains entrepreneurs and engineers needed to rebuild the American manufacturing industry.
It is part of the U.S. State Department's core multilateral cooperation project 'Pax Silica' to build a reliable supply chain. Korea is also participating in Pax Silica.
It is said that the importance that the Donald Trump administration attaches to this event can be guessed just by looking at Vice President Vance and Secretary Rubio giving congratulatory remarks side by side.
The Foundry School program was established through a partnership with Stanford University, and related programs are offered at seven universities, including Ohio State University and Georgia Tech.
Founders and CEOs of advanced companies participate in the training program. The State Department added, "Pax Silica participating countries, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and India, will participate and provide information on everything necessary to establish and operate a world-class manufacturer."
