Climb up to the edge of the well that is as high as one person, and then go down to the bottom of the well along the narrow iron frame, and you will find yourself in a wide circular "hole" - more than enough for three or four people to walk side by side. Looking "inside the cave", it was pitch black, and from time to time there was a "buzzing" echo of construction and talking in the working shaft opposite.
"Actually, it's not in the hole now, it's in the pipe. This is the large-diameter jacked pipe we customized for the project." Zhang Xianwei, deputy general manager of Guangdong Qinglong Pipe Industry Co., Ltd., explained with gestures, "The concrete pipes are jacked one by one and tightly connected to create a channel for the project's water pipeline to travel underground."
The Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf is a backbone project of the national water network, with large investment scale, long water transmission lines, and complex construction conditions. As a private enterprise, Qinglong Pipe Industry participated in the construction of the project.
More than 50 kilometers east of the construction section, in Huangpo Industrial Park, Wuchuan City, Zhanjiang, equipment roared in the Qinglong Pipe Industry production workshop. "This is the vibrator at work, pouring concrete into the welded steel drum." Yuan Shuai, general manager of Qinglong Pipe Industry, said.
Looking down the production line, a large poured cylindrical tube is slowly rotating in the machine, allowing the extended mechanical claw to circle around its 4-meter-diameter "large waist". "This is a wire wrapping machine. Concrete is wrapped with steel wire. After wrapping, another layer of concrete is poured." Yuan Shuai told reporters that such a large pipe weighing dozens of tons can be produced on this production line in a few hours.
"The jacking pipe is buried deep underground and is suitable for large-flow and long-distance tunnel water transportation scenarios. It carries internal and external two-way pressure and has high requirements for pressure resistance and corrosion resistance." Yuan Shuai said that the entire manufacturing process and material parameters are specially designed based on construction standards and environmental conditions. "The strength level of the concrete, the angle, number, and spacing of the U-shaped bars welded to the steel ring, etc., cannot be careless at all."
This production base specializes in the production of PCCP (prestressed steel cylinder concrete pipe), plastic pipes, steel pipes, etc., and has supplied more than 200 kilometers of pipes to multiple engineering projects. The PCCP customized by the base for the Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf also has specially pre-installed chips. The production parameters, inspection information, etc. of each tube can be queried at your fingertips. "With the ID card, the pipes can be clearly seen even if they are buried deep underground." Zhang Xianwei said.
Wang Zhanhu, marketing general manager of Qinglong Pipe Industry Group, said that following the construction of major water conservancy projects, the group has established nearly 30 specialized production bases in relevant areas.
As the construction of the national water network accelerates in an all-round way, industry demand is concentrated, and a large number of private enterprises, including Qinglong Pipe Industry, are facing development opportunities. Taking the Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf as an example, private enterprises from Shandong are involved in pipe supply, and private enterprises from Shanghai are involved in construction supervision on the engineering service side... Yuan Shuai believes that the investment volume of major projects is considerable, driving the coordinated development of the upstream and downstream industrial chains, and bringing real room for growth to enterprises.
