Former military personnel, employees of law enforcement agencies, citizens over 80 years of age and those who have been diagnosed with group I disability for the first time will receive an increase in pensions in October, Igor Balynin, associate professor of the department of public finance of the Faculty of Finance of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told RIA Novosti.

“From October 1, a preliminary increase of 4% in pensions is expected for those who receive them through the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russian FSB, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service and a number of other government bodies,” Balynin said.

He clarified that in October payments will also be increased for pensioners who turned 80 in September. The fixed payment to the old-age insurance pension for them will be doubled and amount to 19,169 rubles, and taking into account the premium for care in the amount of 1,413 rubles, the total amount of the additional payment will reach almost 20.6 thousand rubles.

The specialist added that an increased fixed payment and an allowance for care are also due to disabled people of the first group. At the same time, the expert emphasized that the state provides an increase only on one of these grounds. So, if a Russian has already had his disability pension increased, then upon reaching 80 years of age there will be no further increase.
