China Railway Group expects to carry 22.1 million passengers today and plans to operate 2,199 additional trains. High-speed rail hub stations such as Chengdu and Shanghai have started overnight operations. The capacity of Hongqiao Station has increased by about 30%. During peak hours, there is an average of one train arriving and departing every 5 minutes. The Urumqi Bureau has launched long-distance trains from Urumqi to Xi'an North and Beijing West, and implemented reconnection operations for 29 trains. New lines and stations such as the Xiongshang Section of the Beijing-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway and the Haiyi High-Speed Railway have been put into use. Heze East Station has been upgraded to a cross-connection hub for the Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway and the Rilan High-speed Railway, and is expected to carry 17,000 passengers. The Xikang High-speed Railway is expected to carry 28,000 passengers. The railway department provides free pick-up and drop-off services for key passengers such as the elderly, the sick, the disabled and pregnant women.
