The North Mayor’s Debate is officially scheduled! Jiang Wanan and Shen Boyang faced off for the first time at noon on October 31

The date for the first televised debate in the Taipei mayoral election has finally been decided. TVBS and Sanli TV today (15th) officially decided that the debate with the KMT Taipei mayoral candidate Chiang Wanan and the Democratic Progressive Party Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Boyang will be held at the TVBS studio from 12 noon to 2 pm on Saturday, October 31.

The first debate was hosted by Sanli News anchor Li Wenyi and TVBS anchor Huang Xinghua; the questioners were Sanli News Network senior director Huang Yanyi and TVBS News Department Manager Fan Qiming.

TVBS and Sanli announced on the 11th of this month that they would jointly host the 2026 Taipei Mayoral Candidates TV Debate. When the two camps held their first negotiation on the 12th, it was confirmed that a cross-examination session would be set up. However, due to the failure to reach consensus on the debate venue and date, exchanges of fire broke out in the air.

Shen Boyang's camp advocated at the time that the total number of events and themes of each event should be confirmed before arranging dates, and suggested that October 24, 31, and November 7 could be used. Jiang Wanan's camp believed that the organizer proposed October 31 as the earliest feasible time after considering the preparation period, and the first event should be decided first, and then follow-up arrangements could be discussed. After many days of offense and defense, the two sides finally confirmed the schedule for the first debate today.

As the date has settled, the two will face off for the first time on October 31, which is bound to become the focus of the election.
