(Jeju = Yonhap News) Reporter Byeon Ji-cheol = A special situation room will be operated to ensure the safety of returning passengers and tourists using Jeju Port during the Chuseok holiday.

Jeju Island announced on the 23rd that it will operate the 'Jeju Port Special Measures Situation Room' from the 24th to the 27th.

The province maintains an emergency work system during the holiday period and inspects multi-use facilities such as passenger terminals and major port facilities.

We maintain an emergency contact network with port workers and stevedores to ensure that there are no disruptions in maritime logistics transportation, and we also respond to any inconveniences that arise during the port use process.

The communication system with port support vessels such as tugboats and blue sailing vessels will also be strengthened to prepare for emergency situations such as maritime accidents.

As of the 21st, the total number of reservations for 8 coastal passenger ships and 6 routes traveling to and from Jeju during the holiday season was 17,778.

By date, there were 2,783 people on the 24th, 1,846 people on the 25th, 6,158 people on the 26th, and 6,991 people on the 27th.

During the holiday season, passenger ferries connecting Mokpo, Wando, Jindo, Nokdong, and Samcheonpo are scheduled to operate 10 more times.

Kim Jong-soo, head of the Jeju Island Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Bureau, said, “We will thoroughly prepare from facility inspection to on-site response so that returning passengers and tourists can travel to and from Jeju Port safely and without inconvenience.”
