Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education operates Hangeul experience program at 10 public libraries to celebrate Hangeul Day

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 27th that in celebration of the 580th Hangeul Day, it will run various experience programs to reflect on the value of the Korean language at 10 local public libraries throughout the month of October.

The 2/28 Memorial Student Library will hold an event called ‘Story, Voyage with a Children’s Story Author’ on the 4th of next month.

This event, aimed at families of elementary school students, is a program to read picture books with a children's story author and learn creative expressions in Korean.

The National Debt Redemption Movement Memorial Library will hold the ‘Naebang Gasa that Protects Hangul’ event on the 11th of the same month. Naebanggasa is a lyric literature written and enjoyed by noble women from the late Joseon Dynasty to modern times.

Also, on the same day, Nambu Library will hold an event titled ‘Know, Write, Play, and Experience the Great Hangul’ for local elementary school students, and Dalseong Library will hold an event titled ‘Hangeul Day, Discover the Beautiful Korean Language through Picture Books’ for families of elementary school students.

In addition, Duryu Library will be holding the 'From ㄱ to ㅎ, a walk around the library following Hangul', where families can look up book titles corresponding to Korean consonants, and Suseong Library will be holding the 'Korean Language Competition at Suseong Library' event in October, where families will be able to solve Korean spelling and spacing.

Jeon Jong-seop, director of the February 28 Memorial Student Library, said, “I hope this event will serve as an opportunity for citizens to feel the importance of the Korean language in their daily lives again.”
