The countdown for the 1000 Miglia 2027 has officially begun. The next edition of the re-enactment of the Freccia Rossa will be an event not to be missed because it will also celebrate the centenary of the event, an iconic event in the panorama of historic motoring on a global level. The 1000 Miglia 2027 takes place earlier than in previous years, with the return in May for the famous regularity race.
The duration of the 1000 Miglia 2027
The chosen period is from Monday 24th to Saturday 29th May, with six days of competition that will start in Brescia and return to the Lombardy city at the end of the race with the historic anti-clockwise ring route that will pay homage to the 1927 route. With the announcement of the route, registrations will also officially open, which will start on October 6th.
The start from Brescia
The Freccia Rossa 2027 will start at 6pm on Monday 24 May 2027 from the Viale Venezia ramp in Brescia. After the Time Trials at the Castle and the first Stamp Check at the Village in Piazza Vittoria, the stage will lead the crews towards the plain and Castiglione delle Stiviere, birthplace of Giuseppe Morandi. The arrival will be in Parma, with dinner hosted in the evocative setting of Palazzo della Pilotta. The second stage is set for Tuesday 25 May, when the caravan will head towards Reggio Emilia and Modena, location of the race lunch. In the afternoon the participants will tackle the Apennine crossing crossing the Raticosa and Futa passes. The time control at the end of the stage will take the participants to Florence, with the arrival in Piazza Santa Croce and the subsequent dinner.
The third stage
The third stage on Wednesday 26 May will see the group cross the Chianti Valley and Arezzo, before reaching Siena where there will be the now traditional lunch stop at Tartarugone: a moment that has become iconic which will see the cars lined up in the breathtaking scenery of Piazza del Campo, the perfect setting to also celebrate the Centenary of the ACI of Siena. Having bid farewell to the City of the Palio, the 1000 Miglia will resume its descent through the harmony of the Crete Senesi, Pienza and Lake Bolsena. With eyes full of beauty, all that remains is to head towards the lights of Rome for the inevitable turning point.
The crossing of central Italy
The ascent north will begin on Thursday 27 May. After crossing Assisi, the race will stop in Perugia for a lunch break; from here the convoy will cross the Madonna della Cima - retracing a passage of the 1927 route - and will touch Gubbio and then reach Macerata, Ancona and the Conero Riviera, following the original itinerary along the entire route of the SS16 Adriatica. Among the great news of this day, the competition dinner in the charming village of Gradara stands out: between the Rocca and the Castle, it will be a real dive into the Middle Ages with historical re-enactments in costume, before the evening Time Control in Cervia. The fifth stage on Friday 28 May will connect Cervia to Verona crossing Ferrara, Rovigo, Padua - with a lunch stop in Prato della Valle - Treviso and the hills of Valdobbiadene. From here the race will face the hairpin bends of the Scale di Primolano. After passing the pass, the convoy will touch Bassano del Grappa and Vicenza, before arriving in the city of Verona.
The return to Brescia and the homage to the city and the territory
The last day, Saturday 29 May, will be a true celebration of Brescia and its province, the cradle where the myth of the 1000 Miglia was born and continues to be renewed every year. The route will draw a big embrace of the Brescia area starting from Basso Garda and continuing through Valtenesi and Val Sabbia, with the return of the lunch stop in Lumezzane: a significant passage that aims to celebrate 100 years since the birth of the Municipality, a historic anniversary shared with the Freccia Rossa. After touching Valtrompia, the cars will touch Lake Iseo and cross Franciacorta towards the capital. The return to the city will reserve a special tribute for the people of Brescia: in the afternoon the cars will carry out a final stamp check in Piazza Vittoria, allowing enthusiasts to admire the cars up close in the heart of the historic centre. The competing crews will finally reach the finish line with the Time Control in Viale Venezia to crown the winners of this historic edition of the Centenary, recalling the conclusion of the 1927 race.
