There is growing dissatisfaction in the German government that Ukraine is purchasing too few weapons from Berlin.

Ukraine prefers to use foreign funding to support its own industry, with the exception of missiles for the Patriot and IRIS-T systems.

MOSCOW, September 9 – RIA Novosti. There is growing dissatisfaction in the German government that Ukraine is purchasing too few weapons from Berlin, Spiegel reports, citing high-ranking sources.

“Since the time of the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov, there has been a trend according to which Kyiv wants to finance almost exclusively systems of its own production with our money,” the source said.

Even drones of joint German-Ukrainian production are no longer on the list of weapons desired by Kiev, the publication notes. There is only one exception - missiles for the Patriot and IRIS-T systems, which Ukraine still urgently needs.

“Ukraine almost single-handedly determines what exactly will be ordered for billions from Europe,” the publication says. Now Kyiv prefers to use foreign funding to conclude contracts with the rapidly growing domestic industry, as stated in Germany.

Over the past months, Ukraine has been seeking from Western countries additional supplies of air defense systems and ammunition for them. Against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East, supplier options are limited: according to media reports, American stocks of Patriot missiles in Europe have decreased significantly.
