The plan of the third "Growing Height Competition" was released at the professional trade fair to help patents move from the "playing field" to the "market"

As one of the opening activities of this fair, the plan for the third Yangtze River Economic Belt High-Value Patent Transformation and Utilization Competition ("Growing High Competition") was released on the same day to help patents move from the "playground" to the "market."

According to the released plan, the third "Growing Height Competition" will consist of six links: competition launch, demand research and project collection, preliminary competition, semi-finals, finals, and awards.

This competition has two categories: start-up group and growth group, and has added a new field of "future industry" to collect high-quality projects in cutting-edge directions such as the metaverse, brain-computer interface, quantum information, humanoid robots, generative artificial intelligence, and biological manufacturing.

The competition has 5 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 50 bronze medals. There are also 10 patent transformation and application awards, 10 best commercialization potential awards, and 10 outstanding organization awards, with a total bonus of 1.05 million yuan.

This "Growing Height Competition" is co-sponsored by the Intellectual Property Development Research Center of the State Intellectual Property Office, the intellectual property authorities of 11 provinces (municipalities) along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the Jiujiang Municipal People's Government, and is hosted by the Jiujiang Municipal Intellectual Property Office.

Zhou Chuntao, deputy director of the Intellectual Property Utilization Promotion Department of the State Intellectual Property Office, attended the launch event and pointed out that in recent years, the State Intellectual Property Office has solidly promoted special actions for patent conversion and application, promoted the normalization and long-term implementation of patent conversion and application, and achieved positive results. Relying on the national major regional development strategies, various localities have deepened coordination and linkage, held a series of high-value patent competitions, formed a good competition mechanism and transformation platform, and become an important starting point for in-depth promotion of patent transformation and application.

He said that the "Changgao Competition" is a brand competition jointly cultivated by Jiangxi Province and the provinces along the Yangtze River in the special action of patent transformation and utilization. The mechanism of the first two competitions has been continuously improved and its influence has continued to expand. It has become an important platform for patent transformation and supply and demand docking in the Yangtze River Economic Zone.

Zhou Chuntao hopes that the third "Growing High Competition" will further expand the scope of collection and improve the quality of projects so that more high-value patent projects that match the needs of key industries can stand out; rely on special trade fair roadshows and other scenarios to promote accurate docking of award-winning projects with industrial capital and leading companies, and promote more patents from the "playground" to the "market"; leverage the linkage advantages of the 11 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, connect with national platforms such as special trade fairs, gather regional innovation synergies, and build a good ecosystem for patent transformation and application.

The Jiangxi Provincial Intellectual Property Authority stated that the Yangtze River Economic Belt is a core area rich in scientific and technological resources and bursting with innovation vitality in China. It is an important strategic fulcrum to promote high-quality development. Intellectual property rights are the core link that connects regional synergies and drives high-quality development. The first two "Growing Height Competitions" adhered to the principle of "promoting transformation through competition and promoting production through transformation", and the brand effect of the competition has become increasingly prominent. Jiangxi will continue to deepen the implementation of intellectual property cooperation agreements with provinces and cities along the Yangtze River, promote the organic integration of the industrial chain, innovation chain, and talent chain, so that more intellectual property achievements can be transformed into new productive forces, and make every effort to successfully host the "Growing Up Competition".

According to the executive committee of the competition, since the "Growing Height Competition" was launched on the banks of the Yangtze River in October 2024, the number of participating projects has increased from 675 to 1,410, and the scope of participation has expanded from 16 provinces and cities to 27 provinces including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. A total of more than 400 project roadshow reviews have been organized, and 61 project intentions have been docked, 13 projects have been implemented and transformed, and 3 projects have been put into production.
