An auto expert assessed the impact of increasing recycling collection in Russia on the car market

Russians were reminded of the increase in the recycling fee for cars from January 1, 2027. Auto expert Artem Samorodov told Lenta.ru how this will affect the Russian automobile market in the coming months.

In his opinion, only radical changes in the recycling collection can radically change the market picture. “For example, like those that happened on November 1, 2025. And the planned increase in the commercial recycling fee will simply increase the demand for custom-made cars a little more to 160 horsepower,” the specialist said.

Previously, Samorodov recommended paying attention to cars from China localized in Russia. He believes that all domestic cars are good, but among them there are “excessively” expensive models. The expert himself, “other things being equal, would give preference to those Russian manufacturers who assemble cars that not so long ago were called Chinese.”
