Hijacking codes were sent from a plane heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv and diverted to Saudi Arabia

A plane heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv, with about 150 passengers on board, sent the code used when hijacking planes.

Air Force warplanes were summoned, while the aircraft changed their course towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to Ynet newspaper data, during landing the plane first sent code 7700 — an international signal for a public emergency, and shortly thereafter code 7500, which is used to report unlawful interference or hijacking of an aircraft. At that moment, the plane was landing in manual mode, then turned and headed towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

At some point, contact with the plane was lost, and it was not allowed to land at Ben Gurion Airport. Channel 12 reported that the pilots did not contact air traffic control services in either Israel or Jordan. Later, the crew sent a distress signal again. In light of the incident, the Israeli Air Force raised fighters.

Israeli security services believe that the plane will land in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, all hypotheses of what happened continue to be verified — and there is currently no confirmation that it is a kidnapping.

Journalist Amit Segal wrote that “positive indicators” had emerged: according to his data, there was a high enough probability that what happened was related to another incident and not to the hijacking of the plane. Ynet confirms that the information is still preliminary. The reason for sending codes 7700 and 7500 and the circumstances of what happened have not yet been determined.
