A Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was diverted to Saudi Arabia after an emergency call

Sources told CNN that a Flydubai plane, heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv, was diverted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after the pilot issued an emergency call.

An Israeli official stated that the incident was not a kidnapping, adding that they understood the matter to be an internal incident involving the crew on board the plane.

The incident prompted the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Israel to hold security consultations. Israeli fighter planes also took off immediately after sending the emergency message, an Israeli army spokesman told CNN.

CNN has sought comment from Flydubai.
