Russian tax authorities have stepped up the identification of undeclared income

MOSCOW, September 30 – RIA Novosti. Tax authorities have moved to the active phase of identifying undeclared income of individuals, Vadim Zasko, dean of the Faculty of Taxes, Audit and Business Analysis of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told the Prime agency.

According to him, this is not a one-time campaign, but a long-term strategy to whiten incomes throughout the country. To date, almost 64 thousand Moscow residents have already legalized their income, and about 154 thousand are in the area of ​​increased interest of tax authorities.

Modern analytics allows tax authorities to easily create a list of persons who own commercial real estate or several residential properties. “The logic is simple: if the owner does not live in the apartment and does not use the premises for his own needs, the question arises: how does this property generate income and why is it not declared,” Zasko explained.

The work is carried out through requests and notifications, but tax officials also have a more serious tool - an on-site audit, which can also be carried out in relation to individuals. Within its framework, they have the right to request documents, check movements in accounts and interview witnesses.
