No explosive devices were found in the cars of the people detained at Fairford airbase, the head of Britain's National Counterterrorism Office, Lawrence Taylor, said.

MOSCOW, September 30 - RIA Novosti. Britain's National Counterterrorism Office found no explosive devices in the cars of people detained at Fairford Air Base, which is used by the US military, its head, Deputy Commissioner Lawrence Taylor, said.

Last Sunday, five British nationals were detained near the base on suspicion of committing offenses under the Explosives Act. The next day they were released on bail.

"The vehicles were thoroughly examined with the support of military and forensic experts and we can confirm that no improvised explosive devices were found. However, a quantity of petrol was found," Taylor said in a statement on the British police website.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously said there was a “foreign trace” in the incident near the base.
