Tuzla Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl Announced Odor Complaints in Orta and Şifa Neighborhoods

Tuzla Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl made a statement on his social media account regarding the odor complaints in Orta and Şifa neighborhoods of the district.

Stating that the odor allegations that emerged in two neighborhoods in particular have started to be investigated in the field since yesterday evening, Bingöl said, "Upon the intense odor complaints that reached our municipality from Orta Mahalle and Şifa Neighborhood, our odor control vehicle and teams started inspection work in the field and continued their controls in line with the notices received." He made a statement.

Stating that the notifications from citizens are recorded one by one, Bingöl said in his statement:

"During the first checks carried out by our teams in the field, it was determined that there was an illegal discharge into the sewer line in Orta Mahalle. All our teams are working intensively with our District Police Department in order to identify the source of the discharge and the person or persons responsible. In the first field inspections, it was evaluated that the discharge in question was moving from Orta Mahalle to Şifa Mahallesi through the sewer system, and from there towards the coastline and İSKİ treatment facility."

Bingöl emphasized that İSKİ was informed about the issue after the field studies.

Noting that İSKİ has not initiated any work on this issue, Bingöl continued as follows:

"The authority and responsibility regarding the sewage infrastructure and wastewater management belong to İSKİ. From the first moment the complaints were received, İSKİ has been informed about the issue by us, but has not initiated any work yet. Therefore, we invite İSKİ to act responsibly and not to remain a spectator to the suffering of the people of Tuzla. We are aware of the discomfort experienced by our citizens. We are following the process meticulously and will inform you immediately as developments occur."
