Arrested for stealing 35 million won in cash by luring them into virtual currency trading by giving them drugs and drinks

A group of people who lured people into drinking a drug-laced beverage by pretending to trade virtual currency and then stole cash and ran away were caught by the police.

Incheon Western Police Station announced on the 30th that it had arrested two people, including Mr. A, in his 40s, on charges of special robbery and detained and sent one person.

Mr. A and others are suspected of stealing 35 million won in cash from Mr. B, in his 30s, who came to trade virtual currency in the lobby of an officetel in Cheongna-dong, Seohae-gu, at around 4:30 pm on the 16th.

It was found that they did this by luring Mr. B by telling him that he could save on fees by trading virtual currency face-to-face.

It was discovered that they gave Mr. B a drink believed to have been containing drugs, and then took the money brought in as payment for the transaction while Mr. B was unconscious.

It is known that Mr. B, who drank the drink, fell asleep in his car and woke up 5 hours later, but did not remember the previous situation.

The police, who received the report and began an investigation, arrested two people in Wonju and Incheon, Gangwon-do on the 21st and 29th, respectively.

During the arrest process, the police recovered 5.5 million won in cash they were carrying.

The police requested a detailed analysis from the National Institute of Forensic Science to investigate drugs contained in the drink Mr. B drank.

A police official said, "We will apply for an arrest warrant for the accomplices arrested yesterday (29th)," and added, "The investigation to recover the proceeds of the crime will continue."
