Luiz Alex, aged 23, was killed this Tuesday (29) by his brother, aged 19, in Maricá. The crime occurred after a fight between the two.

The mother reported that she tried to help her children against addiction. Luiz Alex had left a rehabilitation clinic on Monday (28).

The suspect fled after the fight. The Niterói and São Gonçalo Homicide Police are investigating the case and searching for the object used.

Hearing calls for help, a mother saw her 23-year-old son die after the young man was murdered by his own 19-year-old brother, in Maricá, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio, this Tuesday (29). According to the police, Santhiago Monteiro hit Luiz Alex da Silva with a piercing object and then fled.

The case is investigated by the Niterói and São Gonçalo Homicide Police Station, which is also searching for the object used in the crime.

Danielli Quintanilha, 41 years old, opened up about the struggle her children face against drug addiction. She said that Luiz Alex, killed at the gate of his house, in the Mumbuca neighborhood, tried to overcome his addiction. The mother also reported the difficulty of getting help to save her children.

"I fought with all my strength, with all my strength, but unfortunately I lost that battle. My son fought a lot against addiction. He really wanted to overcome his addiction. Unfortunately, he couldn't," said his mother.

Danielli believes that the crime occurred after a jealous argument. Police are still investigating the motivation for the attack.

Even in the face of such a difficult time, Danielli shared her story to raise awareness about the reality of those who experience the problem of addiction at home.

"Let me be an example, a sad example, so that other people don't go through the things I'm going through. And that people understand that addiction, crack, is a disease, because my son fought. He suffered to try to get out of this situation", reinforced the mother.

Danielli highlighted that, in addition to the fight against addiction and the lack of support, there is still prejudice in society.

"I wanted to raise awareness of the difficulty, the lack of support that we, mothers of addicts, have. All doors close, even due to prejudice. They see the person in the worst possible light, they are unable to see it as an illness", he added.

Son was hospitalized

According to the young people's mother, Luiz Alex was admitted to a rehabilitation clinic in Itaboraí, but left the institution this Monday (28).

To g1, Danielli said that she spoke to her children this Tuesday morning. Shortly after leaving the house, he heard a commotion and calls for help. When he returned, he found Luiz Alex bloodied at the gate of the residence, where he died.

Santhiago, suspected of the crime, had not been located until the last update of this report.
