A candidate in the 2026 elections and five other people were arrested red-handed this Tuesday (29), in Belém, during an action by the Federal Police investigating suspicions of electoral corruption and money laundering. R$300,000 in cash were seized, withdrawn from a bank branch in the capital of Pará.

According to the PF, the money was divided among those investigated while still inside the financial institution. The elements gathered so far point to evidence that the amount could be allocated to the practice of electoral corruption.

The action had the assistance of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU). The six investigated were arrested on suspicion of electoral corruption, money laundering and criminal association.

The PF did not inform the name of the candidate, the party or the position he is running for. The note also does not detail the origin of the money or how the amounts would be used.

According to the corporation, other possible crimes may be identified during the investigation. The case will be submitted to the competent court.

The information is forwarded to the Electoral Public Ministry for investigation. When reporting, try to describe what happened, indicate the place and date and provide information that helps identify those involved.

It is also possible to file complaints via the Federal Public Ministry website or in person at the MPF and Public Ministry of the State of Pará (MPPA) units.
