Korea Insect Contest held at SETEC from 12th to 14th

The Rural Development Administration announced on the 11th that it will hold the '2026 10th Korea Insect Contest' at the Seoul Trade Exhibition and Convention Center (SETEC) from the 12th to the 14th with the Seoul Metropolitan Government under the theme 'Our insect leader, with your vote!'

This competition is a festival designed to contribute to revitalizing the insect industry and expanding its base through various exhibitions, competitions, and experiences in the insect industry, a new growth future industry.

The competition is comprised of five groups and thematic halls, and a total of 33 species of insects, including the red-bellied mantis, rhinoceros beetle, western beetle, sand beetle, and purple rhinoceros beetle, are exhibited.

Visitors can tour each group's promotional center and experience space, compare the characteristics of insects, and then directly vote for the 'insect leader' who is the best insect for each group.

Also, a new ‘Diptera special exhibition’ will be presented this year.

Diptera insects are attracting attention as biological resources with high potential for use in various fields such as feed, environmental purification, and pollinators. The competition sheds new light on Diptera insects as useful resources in agriculture and the environment, and introduces the diverse uses and industrial value of Diptera insects.

Park Hong-hyeon, head of the Industrial Insect Division of the Rural Development Administration, said, "This event will be a learning opportunity to interact with insects, develop ecological sensitivity, and confirm the industrial value of insects. We hope that students and children who are interested in insects will participate and gain a unique experience."
