A 12-year-old pushed blocks onto the tracks in Jedlanka. Two freight trains hit obstacles

On Tuesday evening, in the town of Jedlanka in the Lublin Voivodeship, two freight trains ran over concrete blocks lying on the tracks. The trains were traveling in opposite directions. This is a train from Konin to Biała Podlaska consisting of 24 wagons and a train of 22 wagons from Małaszewicze to Kutno. The front scrapers of the locomotives of both trains were damaged, but neither of them derailed. Miraculously, there were no injuries.

Workers on site included: police counter-terrorists from Lublin. Information about the incident was forwarded to the prosecutor's office, the Internal Security Agency and the Central Police Investigation Bureau. The State Railway Accident Investigation Commission was also notified.

Today, the police from Łuków announced that a 12-year-old from the Łuków district was responsible for the incident. The child - in the presence of the parent - admitted to this act.

A 12-year-old boy, walking near the railway tracks, pushed concrete fragments of the former platform structure down the embankment. Elements falling from above fell onto the tracks. Additionally, he placed a few stones on the tracks.

Now the materials collected in this case will be transferred to the Family and Juvenile Court in Łuków. Even a person who was under 13 years old at the time of committing the act is subject to the provisions on proceedings in juvenile cases. In the case of a 12-year-old boy responsible for an incident on the railway route in Jedlanka, the Family and Juvenile Court will determine whether his behavior is a manifestation of demoralization and may apply educational measures to the boy - said Asp. pcs.
