Seoul City conducts separate recycling campaign and inspection of excessive packaging ahead of Chuseok

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 13th that it will conduct a separate recycling campaign and inspect excessive packaging ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

From the 14th to the 30th, a campaign to separate and dispose of recyclables will be held.

If you properly separate and certify Styrofoam, paper boxes, and plastics, which are frequently discharged during the holidays, you will receive 1,000 eco-mileage points that can be used to pay local taxes, purchase Seoul Love gift certificates, etc.

Simply access the Naver form, enter your Eco Mileage ID, and register a photo. Detailed information will be announced on the Seoul Eco Mileage website (ecomileage.seoul.go.kr).

In addition, the city, together with autonomous districts and Korea Environment Corporation, will conduct intensive inspections of excessive packaging at distribution stores such as department stores and large discount stores until the 23rd.

We inspect whether the packaging space ratio (10-35% or less for each item) and the limit on the number of packaging (within 1-2 items for each item) are exceeded, and if caught, a fine of up to 3 million won is imposed.

The city reported that during the last Lunar New Year holiday, 16 cases of violation of packaging standards were discovered through 930 inspections.

Soon-gyu Jeong, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Resource Recycling Department, said, "During the Chuseok holiday, when a lot of waste is produced, proper separation of waste and gifts without excessive packaging are the easiest ways to reduce waste. To protect the environment, citizens must practice the right things and the efforts of the entire society, including companies, must be made together."
