Grushko: Russia is reevaluating its security options in response to nuclear developments in Finland

Grushko warned against these countries participating in NATO nuclear missions.

At the same time, the Russian politician stressed that the West's attempts to prevent Russia from developing and exporting oil and gas in the Arctic region are doomed to failure.

In statements to reporters on the sidelines of his participation in the activities of the East Economic Forum held in the Russian city of Vladivostok, Grushko indicated that this new reality is fully taken into account within Russian military planning, and when formulating any precautionary measures to deal with this development.

The Russian diplomat particularly highlighted Helsinki's decision to lift the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons, stressing that Moscow "did not envision such a development in the past," which forces it to re-evaluate its strategic and security options in the region to ensure effective deterrence.

At the level of the economic and strategic file, Grushko touched on the Arctic region’s enormous wealth of oil and gas, explaining that Western countries are making continuous attempts to obstruct Russia’s efforts, but they will not succeed in preventing it from exploring, developing and exporting these fields.

He stressed that the West is well aware of Russia's firm determination to move forward with the development of this vital region and develop its infrastructure, regardless of any external pressures.

These statements issued by the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister during the current session of the East Economic Forum, which runs from September 1 to 4, reflect Moscow's firm position aimed at protecting its national interests and strategic security, both on the military and economic levels.
