Yair Golan intends to sue Sara Netanyahu over statements regarding the October 7 attack

Golan, the former deputy chief of staff, had headed on October 7 to the site of the "Nova" music festival where the attack took place, and participated in rescuing a number of attendees, which won him widespread praise. However, Sara Netanyahu said in the interview that "the presence of a high-ranking military officer at the site at a very early hour" raises questions, ignoring the fact that Golan had stated he went there at around 8:00 AM, which is an hour and a half after the attack began.

In response to these statements, Golan said that he intends to file a lawsuit against the Prime Minister's wife, pointing out that she does not enjoy legal immunity. Meanwhile, his party, "The Democrats," denounced the accusations, affirming that Golan "rushed forward and saved lives" while Netanyahu "rushed to put on makeup and look for excuses," and calling for not allowing the facts to be altered.

Sara Netanyahu was not the first member of her family to promote conspiracy theories about October 7. She was preceded by her son Yair, who spoke of "treason" before the attack—something Netanyahu denied at the time. However, Sara refused to rule out this possibility in her interview, calling for the formation of a genuine commission of inquiry, at a time when the Israeli government continues to refrain from forming any official commission of inquiry three years after the attack.

In the same context, Gadi Eisenkot, head of the "Yeshar" party and Netanyahu's main rival, launched an attack on the Prime Minister's wife, describing her theory as a "horrific rumor" aimed at inciting hatred.

He emphasized that Netanyahu is running away from the responsibility for the greatest failure in Israel's history, while former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett defended Golan, describing him as having "rushed into hell to save lives," and holding Netanyahu responsible for "feeding the Hamas monster" with money for years before the war.
