Vladimir Kasatonov was approved for the post of chairman of the defense committee in the State Duma of the ninth convocation.

His candidacy was put forward by the United Russia faction.

MOSCOW, September 30 - RIA Novosti. The State Duma approved deputy Vladimir Kasatonov to the post of chairman of the defense committee in the ninth convocation of the chamber of parliament.

The corresponding decision was made at the first plenary meeting of the State Duma of the ninth convocation. Kasatonov's candidacy was put forward by the United Russia faction at a meeting on Tuesday.

In total, 34 committees and four standing commissions will work in the State Duma of the ninth convocation.
