Yesterday, a teenager's throat-slitting case occurred in Ruifang District, New Taipei City. A 14-year-old male junior high school student stabbed a 17-year-old high school senior at a noodle stall with a pair of sharp scissors. This is reminiscent of the murder of a teenager named Yang in the middle of Qingshui High School in Tucheng, New Taipei City, three years ago. The case was sentenced in February this year. The murderer, a boy named Guo, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison, and the girl surnamed Lin, who instigated and assisted, was sentenced to 11 years. However, Yang’s father believes that the sentence is basically a light sentence; there are also voices from the outside world that if society thinks that minors who commit murders will be given lighter sentences, people will worry that judicial punishment will not be able to deter crime.

In addition, Yang's father not only believed that the judicial sentence was lenient, he also angered the High Court judge, pointing out that since he believed that the murderer could be educated, he hoped that he could take the murderer home and educate him.

The Tucheng Throat Cutting Case began when a girl surnamed Lin had a dispute with her classmates on December 25, 2023. She went to Yang Sheng's class to find someone during lunch break. Because the door was slammed too loudly, Yang Sheng, the head of the class discipline department, stepped in to stop her. She was dissatisfied and asked for help. Her older brother, a boy named Guo, came to help. When the two returned to the door of Yang Sheng's class, Lin shouted, "Get out" and ordered Mr. Guo to "beat him." She also choked the classmate who tried to stop him and said, "If it's none of your business, get out." When Mr. Guo was committing the murder, she also said, "Fuck him."

Guo Shao first punched Yang Sheng on the head, and then stabbed Yang Sheng seven times on the left side of the neck, chest and back with a switchblade. Yang Sheng's heart, lungs and kidneys were damaged and he was bleeding profusely, and all his organs were necrotic. He died of emergency treatment the next night.

Yang Chengxun's parents attended almost every court during the trial to seek justice for their son. After the case was settled, Yang's father criticized the juvenile incident handling law as "a fundamentally evil law." Not only can he apply for parole after serving more than one-third of his fixed-term sentence, but "his criminal record can even be expunged." After the murderer in this case was convicted, he went to Mingyang Middle School for correction in just over a year and was released from prison. Last month, the Yang family allocated 5 million yuan in donations from all walks of life to provide scholarships and bursaries for Yang Chengxun's junior high school to establish poor students, and allocated another 500,000 yuan to install emergency bells and other facilities in the school.

As for civil compensation, Yang's parents and sister claimed a total of more than 21.77 million yuan. In the first instance, the New Taipei District Court ordered Guo Shao, Lin and their legal representatives to compensate Yang's parents for a total of more than 9.38 million yuan.
