US President Donald Trump said American officials do not believe reports of the death of a Russian laboratory technician are related to biological weapons. He told reporters about this in the Oval Office, The Washington Post reports.

“We will soon find out, but we don’t think so,” said the head of the White House. According to him, Russian officials assured their American colleagues that the situation was under control.

The American leader also noted that he expects the Russian authorities to provide additional information on this case. “I just met with our people. We have brilliant experts. They know everything about what’s going on,” he said.

On October 2, it became known that an employee of the anti-plague institute in the Irkutsk region ended up in the hospital and could not be saved. After this, a number of publications published reports that the Russian woman could have contracted pneumonic plague while performing her official duties, and about 200 people were quarantined. Later, Rospotrebnadzor clarified that the woman was diagnosed with pneumonia of unknown etiology.
