Typhoon Maysak in southern China: 159 dead, 10 missing

China's official Xinhua News Agency reported on the 21st that 159 people were killed and 10 were missing due to the effects of Typhoon Maysak, the 10th typhoon that struck southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region last month.

According to the news agency, Guangxi Nanning City and Guigang City each held a typhoon damage recovery and reconstruction meeting on this day and announced the damage situation.

As of midnight on this day, more than 1.65 million people were affected by the typhoon in the two cities, and 159 people were reported dead and 10 missing.

Nanning City and Guigang City have now completed emergency response and have entered the full damage recovery and reconstruction phase.

Xinhua reported that the Guangxi region suffered serious damage as record-breaking heavy rain fell over a wide area for a long period of time early last month due to the effects of Typhoon Mysak.
