17 out of 20 high schools with the largest number of students passing the University of Natural Sciences of Ho Chi Minh City this year are from Ho Chi Minh City.

This data was first announced by the University of Natural Sciences (HCMUS), Ho Chi Minh City National University, on September 12.

This year, the school recruited more than 4,900 new students, for the first time using the method of considering many types of scores. Mac Dinh Chi High School has the most students passing HCMUS with 83 students. Next is Tran Phu and Gifted High School with 80 and 67 students.

The top 10 schools come from Ho Chi Minh City. If we count the top 20, there are only Thoai Ngoc Hau specialized high school (An Giang), Tien Giang specialized high school, and Tran Hung Dao specialized high school (Lam Dong) from other provinces and cities.

The candidate with the highest high school graduation exam score, salutatorian of block A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) nationwide is Nguyen Ngoc Tran with 29.75 points, choosing IC Design major.

Tran Tien Dat, majoring in Computer Science, has the highest overall admission score - 29.77/30, not including bonus points. I am also the valedictorian with the highest score in the history of the Ho Chi Minh City National University competency assessment exam when reaching 1139/1200.

The school said that more than 24% of new students in this course won prizes in provincial-level excellent student and science and technology exams. Of these, 222 students won national and international prizes. Outstanding is Tran Dai Thanh Danh, a new student majoring in Mathematics from the talented bachelor's program with a silver medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) and a gold medal at the Asia-Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO).

Also choosing the same major as Danh are twin brothers Nguyen Tri Hien and Nguyen Tri Hau - Olympic gold medalists in Turkmenistan mathematics exchange. Meanwhile, Nguyen Quang Chuong, a new student majoring in Computer Science, is the second prize winner of the ICPC international high school programming competition.
