The construction of new ski infrastructure will extend the ski season from 115 to 150 days, from early December to May.

The resort is also investing in the development of an artificial snowmaking system above 1,800 meters above sea level.

SOCHI, September 30 – RIA Novosti. The new ski area "Peak - mark 1800" at the Rosa Khutor resort in Sochi, which is planned to be created in 2027-2028, will extend the ski season from 115 to 150 days, the press service of the ski resort told reporters.

It is expected that with the advent of new infrastructure, the ski season for winter sports enthusiasts will last from early December to May. It is planned to build a new cable car with two lifts and five tracks, the resort’s press service clarified. According to the plan, engineering surveys will begin in 2026, at which time they will move on to the design stage. Construction of the new ski infrastructure is expected to start in 2027.

"Rosa Khutor" is investing in the creation of an early skiing area "Peak - mark 1800", which can significantly increase the duration of the resort's winter season. It is planned that the early opening zone for the ski season will be created at the resort in 2027-2028 and will include two lifts and five slopes. It is expected that the resort will begin construction of new ski infrastructure in 2027,” the resort’s press service told reporters.

They said that the existing cable car "Strela" with the mark Rosa Peak through the sections "Skazka" and "Kaban" will be connected by a six-seater chairlift of a Russian manufacturer.

The resort is also investing in the development of an artificial snowmaking system above 1800 meters above sea level to the zone of guaranteed snow occurrence. The general director of the resort, Konstantin Nesterov, noted that at an altitude of 2100–2300 meters there is snow already at the end of November, and the resort’s current snowmaking system ends below.

“Our task is to close this gap, which will allow us to open the ski season two to three weeks earlier on stable, prepared slopes... We see growing demand from guests who want to start the season earlier and end it closer to the May holidays. And we are creating an infrastructure that meets these expectations,” the resort’s press service quotes Nesterov.
