BUENOS AIRES, September 25 - RIA Novosti. Colombia has severed diplomatic relations with Iran, the Latin American country's Foreign Ministry said.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Government of Colombia, announces that, as of September 19, 2026, it has officially severed diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the statement said.

Colombian authorities cited national security issues, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's obstruction of IAEA inspection as the reasons for this decision.
