A resident of the Belgorod region was sentenced to 19 years for treason

The woman provided the Ukrainian special services with the coordinates of units of the Russian Armed Forces, information about the location of air defense systems and military hospitals.

BELGOROD, September 23 - RIA Novosti. The court sentenced a 35-year-old resident of the Belgorod region to 19 years in prison for treason, she transmitted information about the positions of the Russian army to the Ukrainian special services, the press service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the region told RIA Novosti.

According to the investigation, the woman regularly sent the coordinates of units of the Russian Armed Forces to representatives of the SBU. She photographed military equipment and personnel, described the location of air defense systems, and also obtained information about the location of military hospitals in the region.

According to the department, in total the woman sent Ukrainian curators more than 40 coordinates with reliable information about Russian units. This data was used by the enemy to launch attacks on the positions of the Russian Armed Forces.

“The court pronounced a guilty verdict against... a resident of the Belgorod region, born in 1991... She was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“High Treason”). She was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 19 years to be served in a general regime correctional colony,” the message says.

She was also given a fine of 200 thousand rubles. The verdict has not entered into legal force, the department added.
