On Sakhalin, a 19-year-old resident of the city of Okha became a defendant in a criminal case for insulting the memory of defenders of the fatherland. This was reported by the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR).

According to the investigation, on the evening of June 15, in a park on Lenin Street in the city of Okha, near a cultural heritage site of regional significance “Monument to Okha soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.” The Russian climbed onto the memorial plaque in his shoes. He asked a friend to record his actions on a mobile phone camera.

Later, the suspect distributed the photos on one of the social networks on his personal page, accessible to an unlimited number of people.
