The US attacked three Iranian oil tankers in response to a missile attack on their ships

The US military attacked three Iranian oil tankers, the Pentagon Central Command said.

“Central Command has disabled three crude oil tankers,” the report said.

The ships were hit off the coast of Khark Island, near Jask and in the Gulf of Oman. The military department says it took these actions in response to the launch of ballistic missiles at two US Navy ships. According to the command, the aircraft carrier and destroyer evaded the attack, and no military personnel were injured.

In mid-June, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum designed to launch the process of concluding a peace agreement. However, three weeks later, a new round of escalation began: Washington accused Tehran of shelling commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, after which the parties resumed exchanging blows.
