Taiwan’s women’s archery team narrowly lost to China in the semifinals of the Asian Games compound bow and missed the finals to advance to the bronze medal match.

[Special Correspondent Wu Mengru/Nagoya Report] The Taiwanese archery women's team Huang Yirou, Chen Yixuan, and Chen Fangyi made their debut in the top four of the women's compound archery team competition of the Nagoya Asian Games today. Unfortunately, they failed to complete the reversal in the last round and lost to China by 229 points and 1 point. They missed the chance to enter the finals for the second consecutive time and fell into the bronze medal match that started at 9:25.

Taiwan's women's compound archery team won the silver medal last time. This time, they defeated the Philippines 236:227 and Indonesia 234:227 in the top 16, successfully advancing to the top four.

The compound bow competition was held in 4 rounds. Each team shot 6 arrows in each round. The cumulative points system was used. The Taiwanese team was led by Chen Yixuan as the pioneer. The second shot was freshman Chen Fangyi who participated in the competition for the first time. The finale was Huang Yirou. In the first round, the team had 4 10-point arrows. After the first round, China temporarily led China by 57:56.

China shot five 10-point arrows in the next round, while Taiwan was slightly inaccurate, with only three 10-point arrows. After shooting in the second round, they fell behind 114:115. Freshman Chen Fangyi stabilized in the third game, shooting two perfect arrows, but China was more accurate, shooting six perfect 10-point arrows in a single game.

Taiwan trailed by 172:175 in the first three games. Finally, in the fourth game, it shot three full-point arrows and surrendered 57 points. China was slightly inaccurate in the end and shot an eight-point arrow, but Taiwan still failed to catch up. It lost by 229:230, 1 point, and fell into the bronze medal match. Its opponent was the loser of the top four matches between South Korea and India.
