18 people lost their lives in Filo Jet ferry accident, 10 people are still wanted

The ferry named "Filo Jet", which was departing from TRNC to Mersin's Taşucu Port on Sunday, August 30, capsized. The dead bodies of Mehmet Asaf Biçer and Nihat Pancar, who disappeared in the accident, were found.

In the statement made by the TRNC Prime Ministry, it was stated that DNA studies on the two bodies found over the weekend have been completed.

It was determined that one of the bodies belonged to 5-year-old Mehmet Asaf Biçer, and the other to Nihat Pancar.

It was announced that another body was found during the ongoing search efforts, and DNA studies were initiated to identify him.

While the number of people who lost their lives in the incident increased to 18, the search for the 10 missing people continues.

On the other hand, it has not been announced yet when the bodies will be brought to Hatay.

THE SEARCH WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE MISSING PASSENGERS ARE FOUND

In the statement, it was stated that the bottom search work around the shipwreck was continuing, and that the search work would continue until the missing passengers were found.

Hayri Biçer and Ayten Biçer came to Kyrenia on holiday. The family experienced this tragedy on their way back to their hometown.

Their 12-year-old daughter, Saliha Miray Biçer, and their 5-year-old son, Mehmet Asaf Biçer, disappeared in the accident.

Speaking to NTV Reporter Melike Şahin after the accident, mother Ayten Biçer said, "We are on holiday, I am leaving my children." He reacted to the negligence in the accident by saying.

Explaining that people tried to escape by stepping on each other during the accident, mother Biçer said, "My children screamed 'mom, don't let go of our hands'." he said.

Explaining that she and her husband were rescued by people who rushed to help, Ayten Biçer said, "Suitcases fell on us. There was diesel fuel. Everywhere was sliding." he said.
