Amur Medical Academy enrolled a record number of target students

BLAGOVESHCHENSK, September 10 – RIA Novosti. The Amur State Medical Academy enrolled almost 140 students under targeted training contracts, which became a historical maximum for the region and will help reduce the personnel shortage in clinics and hospitals, the government of the Amur region reported.

“We hope that a set of these measures, combined with targeted training for students, will allow us in a few years to significantly reduce the staffing shortage of specialists in Amur clinics and hospitals, and ideally, completely solve this problem,” said Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov.

He noted that the region is renovating hospitals and clinics, building new healthcare facilities, providing doctors with rental and municipal housing, and paying allowances. This year, 45 medical organizations in the Amur region provided career guidance to schoolchildren, and more than a thousand future applicants took part in excursions and open days.

According to the government, of the 139 enrolled, 120 students chose the specialty "General Medicine", the rest will study to become pediatricians. For comparison, in 2024, 64 “targeted” patients were admitted to the ASMA, and 115 in 2025. This year, quotas for targeted admission were closed by all Amur districts and districts; most doctors are required in second-level interdistrict hospitals.
