The political scientist assessed the goals of Zelensky’s visit to the USA

The main goal of the next visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the United States remains unchanged - to get money, weapons and to achieve the direct entry of Americans into the conflict on the side of Ukraine, says political scientist, director of the laboratory of new technologies EISI Alexander Asafov. However, in a dialogue with Lenta.ru, he noted that there were few prerequisites for a positive outcome of the meeting for the Ukrainian leader.

“We understand the clear position of the American administration regarding the conflict in general and regarding free assistance to Ukraine in particular. This meeting will have media traces, but his (Zelensky’s – Lenta.ru’s note) goal is always the same: give money, give weapons, or better yet, act on our side in the conflict using military force,” the political scientist explained.

According to him, the Americans are obviously trying to force Zelensky, if not into negotiations on rational terms, then at least into elections. However, both tracks are stalled, since the Ukrainian leader “rests against the hawks” in Brussels and London who want to continue the war. This is precisely what prevents Washington from promoting its scenarios, Asafov concluded.
