(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Jeong-hyeon and Kwon Hee-won = Lee Jun-seok, leader of the New Reform Party, reported on the 20th that he met Madison Hwang, the eldest daughter of Nvidia CEO Jensen Hwang and senior director of Nvidia Omnibus and Robotics product marketing, at the World Robotics Congress (WRC) held in Beijing, China on the 19th.

Representative Lee met with reporters after the Supreme Committee of the New Reform Party ended and said, "I had a brief conversation with Madison's senior director, and he was very interested in Korean (robot technology) companies."

He said, "I felt that there was a lot of interest when I saw the director of Madison coming directly to the Korean (exhibition) pavilion after passing through several Chinese companies (exhibition halls). In particular, as I watched him closely look at assistive robots for the visually impaired, I thought that Korean companies could collaborate with international companies such as NVIDIA."

Representative Lee said, "I also had a conversation with the company officials at the event that I would like them to give us more ideas related to verification projects, etc." He added, "There are many politicians and government officials who express interest in robot technology, so I think more people should look at the field and understand it."

At the WRC event that Representative Lee visited, lawmakers from the ruling and opposition parties from the National Assembly's Climate, Energy, Environment and Labor Committee were also planning to attend.

The lawmakers had been planning to visit China for 4 days and 3 nights since the previous day, but it was reported that the standing committee-level visit to China was canceled as the Chinese Embassy in Korea conveyed its position to exclude certain lawmakers from the visiting group.

The people whom the Chinese Embassy in Korea requested to be excluded from the list of visits to China are Rep. Kim Ki-hyeon of the People Power Party and Rep. Kwak Sang-eon of the Democratic Party of Korea.

Coincidentally, they visited Taiwan this year for diplomatic purposes, and at the time, the Chinese government opposed the diplomatic visit to Taiwan by Rep. Kwak and others by mentioning 'One China'.

In relation to this, Rep. Kim said in a phone call with Yonhap News, "It is proof that the Chinese government is really arrogant and how much it despises the Republic of Korea." He also pointed out, "If the Lee Jae-myung government had shown how subservient it was to China, the country would be humiliated like this. I hope the current administration will establish the status of the Republic of Korea as a sovereign nation."
